Hallmarking means that a precious metal such as silver and gold, which is to be sold commercially, is stamped with a mark indicating the purity of the metal, the mark of the maker silversmith, and the marks of the place where the testing was made.
At Diaz London as a proudly British company our customers can enjoy a guarantee of the precious metal content through the 700-years-old practice of hallmarking in our products, conducted by the London assay office. Our British Hallmarking system is one of the most highly structured in the world.
Our Products will be hand-marked in the most traditional method where the article is struck using a punch, our products will hold a Hallmark stamp depends on its weight as for the 1973 Hallmarking Act the following way:
• All Silver articles weighing more than 7.78 grams.
• All Gold articles weighing more than 1 gram.
• All Platinum articles weighing more than 0.5 grams.
All Diaz London products that underpass the hallmarking process will hold the full traditional UK Hallmark. It comprises five marks: The “DL” sponsor’s mark, representing the name of the designer; the traditional fineness mark with and the purity millesimal fineness mark, representing the purity of the metal, the London Assay Office mark, and the date letter mark.
Great care and love has been put in creating your jewellery and leather goods. At Diaz London we use many different types of natural stones, genuine leathers, precious stones and precious metals. We only use the highest quality, and from reputable, ethical sources. To protect it and contribute to its longevity, there are a few tips to follow:
Store your piece separately and in its original packaging as metals and stones can scratch when they come into contact with each other. Do not let your jewellery come into contact with household detergents or other chemical products as exposure to them will result in compromising the integrity of your jewellery or leather goods, this includes but is not limited to perspiration, perfumes, salt water and chlorine. We recommend that customers remove jewellery before going to bed or participating in any physical activity.
Sterling Silver: Although our sterling silver jewellery is coated with an anti-tarnish solution, once exposed to the atmosphere it may tarnish over time, but it will happen much faster when it comes into contact with agents such as perfume, skin creams, hairspray, household cleaning products and bath, pool and sea water.
The amount of tarnishing (oxidation) that occurs is dependent on the skin and care habits of the wearer. Tarnishing is therefore not a manufacturing fault. To prevent tarnishing/oxidisation, to revive lustre and to restore the original brilliance of the surface, we recommend using a non-abrasive silver polishing cloth. To protect your jewellery, store them in their original box away from humidity.
Gold Vermeil (plated) Jewellery: Gold Vermeil jewellery will not tarnish but over time chemicals, perfume, oil, moisture, wear and soil may cause it to corrode. We recommend cleaning with a non-abrasive polishing cloth. Please avoid contact with any chemicals as it may remove the gold vermeil layer. Please protect your gold vermeil jewellery by storying it in the original box to protect it from scratches, chemicals, extreme temperatures and sunlight.
Cord Jewellery: The cord is made by special fibres, but will naturally becomes worn through time due to general wear, and external elements such as water, creams and sweat. Over a period of time we advise that the cord is replaced. This service is available at Diaz London for a small fee. Please contact our customer service department with any enquiries
Natural Stones jewellery: Each natural stone is unique and the colour and composition will be individual, all stones are different but are a delicate and fragile material which must be treated with care. Stones are not impact resistant, therefore Diaz London cannot be held responsible for any breakages or damage. We recommend cleaning with a soft cloth or washing in warm soapy water; rinse and dry thoroughly.
Diamonds and precious stones: Stones may become loose over time and we recommend periodic examinations to assess the security of settings. Gentle cleaning is recommended with non-abrasive jewellery cleaner. To clean diamond or precious stones jewellery, we recommend gentle brushing with a mild solution of one part ammonia to six parts water.
Leather Jewellery: Leather is a natural material, general wear and cleaning may cause shrinkage and colour variations, but with the correct care and treatment it should last a lifetime. If your item gets wet for any reason, allow to dry naturally. Do not place near a source of heating or open fire as this may cause the colour to fade. Diaz London cannot be held responsible for any damage due to negligence. Cleaning should be restricted to a dry cloth. We would advise against the use of cleaning products containing alcohol or solvents. When not in use, leather items should be stored in their original packaging.
Leather Goods: All our leathers are genuine. Different leathers age in different ways and some are more delicate than others. As a general rule, you should take care to avoid rubbing leather against rough or sharp surfaces to minimise scratching. If your product get wet, remove any residual water immediately with a paper towel, pack loosely with paper and allow it to dry naturally. Do not place near a source of heating or open fire as this may cause the colour to fade.
At Diaz London we take great pride in combining outstanding design with flawless manufacturing, this is a way to ensure that our pieces meet the top standard you are expecting.
A counterfeit product is made in imitation so as to be passed off fraudulently or deceptively as genuine. Counterfeit goods are sold under false pretences and are poorly produced, of bad quality and often faulty. Producers of counterfeit goods illegally use the Diaz London name, logo, and imagery to deceive consumers into believing they are purchasing genuine Diaz London product. The production and sale of counterfeit goods is illegal and the purchase of them funds further production and deception.
The first thing to be aware of is that although Diaz London seriously pursues any counterfeit sites, counterfeit resellers regularly change the name of their website and URL and re-enter the market under a different identity, so please remain aware and vigilant. Diaz London does not offer any of its collection through individuals, street vendors, unauthorised retail locations or internet auctions. The only avenues in which Diaz London offers its Collections for sale is via www.diaz.london, our official Marketplaces stores and our official stockists around the world.
The only way to guarantee the authenticity of a Diaz London item is to purchase it via our official options.
Diaz London are actively trying to close down vendors and websites which claim to be genuine. If you know of, or suspect that a website or vendor is not genuine, please submit the web address to our customer service team through the contact form page and our team will look into it. Please be assured that every lead is a priority and investigated as soon as possible.
Counterfeiters are criminals and often have links to fraudulent organisations that commit identity theft and other serious crimes. Purchasing these products exposes consumers to identity and credit card theft through unprotected payment transaction methods that leave personal details unsecured. Purchasing from their websites funds illegal activities, such as child labour, organised crime organisations and in some cases terrorist groups. Your assistance is greatly appreciated and sends a strong message to counterfeiters that their illegal activity will not be tolerated.
